I’m Peter Oxley, a professional photographer from England, who has lived in Japan for more than 20 years.
I worked for an advertising company and later for a Japanese newspaper, before launching out as a freelance travel and lifestyle photographer.
My chosen profession has taken me as far afield as Cuba, Mexico, and Costa Rica,as well as most of Europe and Asia. For several years, I ran a hotel in Cambodia, just minutes away from the fabulous historic monuments of Angkor Wat.
I love history and culture, art, the mountains and the beach.
Currently, I am lucky enough to be living in the old historic town of Kamakura, the ancient capital of Japan from 1188-1333.
There are so many beautiful temples, shrines, and gardens here, AND we are located less than a one-hour train ride from central Tokyo.
It would indeed be my pleasure to show you around Kamakura, explain the history, and show you the best places to get star-quality photographs.
I look forward to meeting travelers from all over the world and sharing with them my experience of this beautiful town which I call home.
TIP: if you have a choice of days in your travel schedule, I would recommend that you plan your visit weekdays rather than at weekends, when it can get rather crowded.
